|
|
\item Contractarianism justifies the basic moral duty to obey the law, as otherwise there would be a state of nature. For the same reason, it justifies legal punishment and gives the state the authority in criminal law.

\item By definition, contractarianism justifies breaking the law through non-violent civil disobedience when the law itself fails to set fair cooperation conditions.
